According to me, the most important necessity for the reconciliation is to reveal the truths primarily. All the facts in the past must be revealed to completely achieve the reconciliation. Society should know the truths to prevent similar events at future. Besides the revealing of truths, both sides of conflict should began to self-criticism and accept their mistakes in the past.

To be able to establish such a process, there should be a legal order that provides freedom of expression and freedom of association in real terms. In a true freedom environment, both sides of conflict can argue that they are equal in terms of rights and demand rights in accord with human dignity.

An appropriate environment of forgiveness might be created if a legal order for the reconciliation is established, the truths are revealed and both sides of conflict accept their own mistakes. Both the political culture and religious faith in Turkey and the beliefs of activists like are appropriate to accept forgiveness if its conditions are satisfied. Forgiveness is also a tool to look to the future with confidence. In my opinion, one of the sayings of Haci Bektas Veli1 has a universal significance. His saying is “Yetmiş iki millete bir göz ile bak”. It means “treats all kinds of people equally”. According to me, this saying might be used during the reconciliation period to tell the acceptance of diversity and equality among people. Besides Haci Bektas Veli, there are also many other verses or sayings of Pir Sultan Abdal2, Yunus Emre3 and Mevlana4 in our culture regarding to humanism.

During the forgiveness period, there should be no discussion on repentance. Forgiveness should not depend on the repentance condition. According to me, there should be no discussion on repentance during the forgiveness period. Forgiveness should not depend on the repentance condition.
