Ara Pacis Initiatives for Peace is committed to the human dimension of Peace.
Every wound heals, but always in a different way: understanding the meaning of one’s own scar is the challenge that awaits every human being who has suffered injustice and violence.
And understanding the meaning of other women’s and men’s scars is the challenge that awaits every human being.
We live and act in conflicts by combining international expertise and local wisdom to envision and implement unique initiatives that encourage and promote healing and reconciliation before, during, and in the aftermath of conflict.
Our Work is Founded on 4 Pillars.
There are four possible ways forward “for the building of lasting peace.”
Security, a fundamental element for human and collective reconstruction.
Dialogue, as the basis for the implementation of shared projects.
Education, as a factor of freedom, responsibility and development.
The Work for full realization of human dignity.
WHERE WE WORK
We work for peoples and countries in conflict, so that they are not left alone in the madness of hatred and injustice; so that respect for dignity, reconciliation and forgiveness, the only guarantees for lasting peace, are tirelessly sought.
Since our inception we have carried out projects and initiatives in the Sahel and Sahara, Libya, Mali, Niger, Sudan, Chad, Syria, Rwanda.
OUR APPROACH
We work with a horizontal and participatory creative approach, in collaboration with organizations, communities, human rights activists, members of the cultural and creative arts worlds.
We also collaborate with governments, institutions, and leaders in politics, religion, business, and sports to imagine and promote new narratives and paradigms for the realization of lasting and sustainable peace.
